Come pedal along the Poudre bike trail while learning about the history and heritage of the Cache la Poudre River National Heritage Area. As one of only 55 National Heritage Areas in the country, participants will discover what makes this river corridor so special as Heritage Culturalist volunteers guide them along a three hour, 6+ mile biking tour of historic and natural sites. This tour will begin at Watson Lake in Bellvue and finish in downtown Fort Collins – approximately 6 miles one way or 12 round trip. This event is open to all skill levels. Please contact us at programs@poudreheritage.org if you need help procuring a bike for the tour.

  • General tour topics:
    • Early history and settlement of Camp Collins/Fort Collins and Northern Colorado
    • The Poudre River’s importance as it relates to Western Water Law
    • Water management systems that were developed and/or utilized along the Poudre River
    • Modern happenings along the Poudre River corridor including the Downtown Whitewater Park, ecological restoration at Natural Area sites, and new storage/diversion projects

We look forward to riding with you soon! And thank you for supporting the Poudre Heritage Alliance and the Cache la Poudre River National Heritage Area! For more information about PHA’s Pedaling the Poudre program, click here.
