Come pedal along the Poudre bike trail while learning about the history and heritage of the Cache la Poudre River National Heritage Area. As one of only 55 National Heritage Areas in the country, participants will discover what makes this river corridor so special as Heritage Culturalist volunteers guide them along a three hour tour of historic and natural sites. This tour will begin at River Bluffs Open Space and end near Eastman Park in Windsor. This event is open to all skill levels. Please contact us at programs@poudreheritage.org if you have any further questions.

  • General tour topics:
    • Early history and settlement of Windsor and Northern Colorado
    • The Poudre River’s importance as it relates to Western Water Law
    • Water management systems that were developed and/or utilized along the Poudre River
    • Modern happenings along the Poudre River corridor including new trail construction in Windsor, ecological restoration at Natural Area/Open Space sites, and new storage/diversion projects

Come pedal along the Poudre bike trail while learning about the history and heritage of the Cache la Poudre River National Heritage Area. As one of only 55 National Heritage Areas in the country, participants will discover what makes this river corridor so special as Heritage Culturalist volunteers guide them along a four hour, 13+ mile biking tour of historic and natural sites. This tour will begin at River Bluffs Open Space in Windsor and finish in Western Greeley – approximately 13 miles one way or a 26 mile round trip. This event is recommended for more experienced riders, therefore we recommend bringing your own bike for the tour.

  • General tour topics:
    • Early history and settlement of Windsor/Greeley (e.g. the Union Colony)
    • The Poudre River’s importance as it relates to Western Water Law
    • Water management systems that were developed and/or utilized along the Poudre River
    • Modern happenings along the Poudre River corridor including ecological restoration at Natural Area sites and new storage/diversion projects
