The only remaining stone one-room schoolhouse in Larimer County sits on the Noosa Yoghurt and Morning Fresh Dairy campus in Bellvue, Colorado. The Pleasant Valley Schoolhouse was built in 1879 to serve the children of local farmers and ranchers.
The 24’ by 38’ single-story stone structure was in use as a school until 1913. At that time ownership reverted to the Graves family who owned the land. The schoolhouse was converted into housing for dairy employees and was used as such until 2015 when Noosa Yoghurt funded rehabilitation of the schoolhouse so that it could serve as an educational and historical resource for the community.
The schoolhouse is currently part of the scheduled tours of Morning Fresh Dairy. Tours take place 2-3 days/week depending on the time of year. Tours start at the Howling Cow Café at 5821 W Co Rd 54E, Bellvue, CO 80512.
